How it all began....

Saturday morning...
aunt & me took a bus from Ipoh to Butterworth to catch the 13:20 train to Bangkok....

The Butterworth main train station...

Train 36 to Bangkok will be arriving at platform 2....

All aboard!! We're ready to go go go....

So we boarded the train... what to do in the train for 20 hours??

First we.......

Make ourselves comfortable....

A little view of the train compartment.....
(in the evening, the two facing seats are converted into a bed,
and the top pulled down to form the upper berth....)

Enjoy the passing scenery.....

Nice paddy fields along the way....and a nice rainbow round the bend too!

Train stops and food comes to us...
You could also order food from the food coach, to be delivered to your seat...

You could also enjoy any yum yum food you bring along from home...

After you eat...you will of course need this....

This is how you do it....
(hold on tight...so you wont....you know...
it's a fast moving train you know :)

Remember to wash your hands after... ;)
(brush teeth also la here..)

Ready to go to sleep!!
I had the upper berth on the journey to Bangkok
Slept like a baby la....

In the morning.....wake up to some breakfast in bed... :D
Nice scenery is complimentary...

We're almost there...

Yes....we survived the 23 hour train ride...
(plus another 3 hours of delay...)

After checking into the hotel....we got straight down to business...
Chatuchak market... 20 minutes walk from the hotel :)

Our 'official' 1st meal in Bangkok...
dinner courtesy of Uncle Sukit at his hotel...
Tom Yum Kung & some other dishes which names i have forgotten.. :P
(that's uncle Sukit.... don't want show his face la...he low profile...heh..)

After dinner....supper!!
'Sankaya'.... basically steamed bread cut into cubes and dipped in yummy sweet kaya...

That was the sweet ending to our 1st day in Bangkok....
after 2 hour bus ride from Ipoh to Butterworth...
23 hour train ride from Butterworth to Bangkok...
:)
To be continued.......
